Grant Deadlines

We have two grant cycles per year, Spring (June decisions) and Fall (November decisions).

A one-page letter of inquiry must be submitted and accepted before any grant proposal is reviewed.

The letters of inquiry phase for the spring 2014 cycle is CLOSED.

The deadline for letters of inquiry for the fall 2014 cycle is May 1, 2014.

Akron Score

SCORE offers several services to help start a small business or to make a small business more effective including individual counseling, mentoring, workshops, and seminars. SCORE offers several workshops for individuals who are interested in starting their own business or have recently started a small business. These include Business Basics, Financial Management, Not-for Profit Basics, Marketing and Leadership and Management Skills.

BVU: The Center for Nonprofit Excellence

BVU: The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is a national model organization that strengthens nonprofits by involving thousands of volunteers from the community; engaging hundreds of business executives and professionals on nonprofit boards of directors; and providing leading-edge board and management consulting and training services for nonprofits. The Akron-based Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) and Cleveland-based Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU) merged in September 2011, and have offices in both downtown Akron and Cleveland. The organization, led by Brian Broadbent, President & CEO, offers services to businesses and nonprofits throughout the region and provide one-stop shopping for volunteer referral, consulting and training
