How to Apply
The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation awards grants to organizations that are recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) and described as public charities under section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Step One
If a potential applicant's grant interest aligns with the Foundation's mission and
Key Results Areas, the applicant should submit a one-page preliminary letter of inquiry to
The Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation that includes the organization's contact information and a description of the organization, the project, and the amount to be requested.
Please Note: Inquiry letters need to be submitted no less than 30 days prior to the proposal deadline as noted in the chart below. Letters can be submitted by fax, mail, or email.
Step Two
If the Foundation determines that the letter of inquiry falls within its interest areas, the applicant will be notified by mail to submit a full proposal.
The full proposal should contain the following information:
- Description of project
- Description and history of organization
- Project staff background and expertise
- Amount of request
- Need for the project
- Evaluation procedures
- Timetable of project
- Support from other foundations and/or corporations
The following attachments should be included:
- Financial statements (two years)
- Form 990 (two years)
- Budget for current fiscal year
- Project budget
- Board list
- IRS Determination letter
While proposal alignment with our vision and mission is required, it does not guarantee an invitation to apply. Other factors, such as available grant money and other projects under consideration or in process in a given time period, will impact acceptance of requests.
