The Foundation is devoted to serving as a pathfinder in mental health issues. The Foundation consults with world-class experts on mental health issues and fosters programs designed to help mental health consumers lead independent lives through meaningful work and life skills training.
In mental health grantmaking, the Foundation’s primary geographic focus is Northeast Ohio, including Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Holmes, Jefferson, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties, and the programs we facilitate are primarily focused on prevention and recovery. The prevention initiatives include educational campaigns, projects designed to improve responsiveness and access to care, and campaigns to raise public consciousness about mental health issues. The Foundation also supports recovery programs that provide socialization, supported housing, and supported employment for mental health consumers.

In making grants for education, the Foundation focuses on primary and secondary education in Hudson and higher education in Summit and Portage counties. We also support non-school based life long learning activities in Summit County.

The Foundation’s goal in arts funding is to encourage and support the general public’s growing awareness of and engagement in the arts in Summit County. We are open to all art forms, from visual to performance art and beyond. Arts initiatives that receive grants must ordinarily have a component that is open to the public, such as a performance or gallery show.
In making grants, particular attention is given to Hudson programs with a wide range of audiences and participants, which promote and instill creativity in all who participate.
In order to focus the available arts funds, the Foundation does not ordinarily make grants for endowments or capital funding. We prefer funding operations and projects.
